Rajabhatkhawa
The name literally means that the King had his Rice here. Rajabhatkhawa is a small railway station closest to Buxa Tiger reserve / Alipurduar / Jayanti. The nearest major station is Alipurduar nearly 15 kilometers from here. Rajabhatkhawa can be approached by either road or railway; both are enjoyable due to the scenic beauty. It is nearly 190 kilometers from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and Bagdogra airport and is 3 ½ - 4 hours drive through forest and tea gardens. It is always advisable for the tourist to get a hired vehicle from Siliguri as vehicles are not that easily available locally during season. During visit to Dooars it is advisable to have a vehicle for the whole tour which is safer and cheaper to explore the region.
Rajabhatkhawa is very close to Jayanti and Buxa Tiger Reserve surrounded by dense forests this place is ideal to just hang around during winters. This place is a small hamlet and is situated just outside the periphery of the forest and is sparsely populated. Flora and fauna of the region is diversified, attractive and fascinating. Phuentsholling, Chilapata, Mendabari, Cooch Behar, Rasikbill, Tea Estate, etc are nearby and can be visited staying here. One more place of interest is the Nature Interpretation Center and Orchidorium, both are worth visiting. Rajabhatkhawa is a hamlet with a beautiful small rail station, forest and a small market.
