How to Reach Eastern Himalayan Region

Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong, Mirik, Sikkim, Doors and all other tourist spots are interlinked with National Highways and each road basically leads to the town of Siliguri. Siliguri is the gateway to the whole of North East India. The City of Siliguri is the nodal point to the whole of North East India and neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Tibet and China. Bhutan, Nepal, China and Bangladesh are one to eight hours drive from Siliguri.

 Airways – Bagdogra is the Airport for this region, flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and other metros connects Siliguri to the rest of India. Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Deccan operate flight regularly. Tourists heading for Nepal and Sikkim can get Helicopter / flight facilities.

Railways – The Nearest Railway Station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in Siliguri. Railway links to all the major cities of India with Siliguri. It has direct Trains to Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Varanasi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and other major cities of India. Tourists heading for Nepal, Bhutan and Darjeeling can get a number of trains available from NJP or Siliguri town station.

Roadways – Tenzing Norgay bus stand links Siliguri with the rest of the Country. North Bengal State Transport Corporation, Sikkim nationalized transport have a fleet of busses to ply to different places. Siliguri is connected by road to Nepal, Bhutan, Darjeeling, Dooars, Kalimpong and Gangtok. Cars, luxury coaches and jeeps are available on hire. Share jeeps and taxis are a faster alternative to commute.
