Day 1
Siliguri – Rangpo - Gangtok – Approximately 117 Kms, 3 ½ Hours
The drive to Gangtok the capital of Sikkim is enjoyable. Situated on the flanks of a ridge at 1,540 meters above sea level, this town's unique ambiance comes with its mixture of tradition and modernity. Alongside the deeply felt presence of monasteries, this enchanting town perches majestically on a beautiful spur surrounded by evergreen hills, and commands a magnificent view of the mountains on its horizon. Day 2
Gangtok – Chungthang – Lachung - Approximately 120 kms, 6 hours drive
After breakfast Drive from Gangtok to Lachung via Chungthang, the confluence of Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu forming River Teesta in North Sikkim. On the route cross numerous Villages, Singhba Rhododendron Sanctuary, monastery and waterfalls, this will rejuvenate one’s mind. The route offer superb mountain views, a floral spectacle, especially in the spring season - Halt overnight at Lachung.
Day 3
Lachung – Yumthang – Lachung – Chungthang – Gangtok - Approximately 160 kms, 7 hours drive
After breakfast visit Yumthang Flower Valley after breakfast via Singhba Rhododendron Sanctuary, Yumthang, is a vast expanse of colorful grass-carpet to the horizon covered with rhododendron shrubs and trees, the entire valley erupts into a riot of colors in May. A little ahead on the right crossing the Lachung Chu over the wooden bridge is Sachu or hot spring rich with Sulphur compounds. It is popular for its curative and healing power. Return and have lunch – Start for Gangtok - Reach Gangtok by evening, free to rest - Halt overnight at Gangtok.
Day 4
Gangtok – Tsomgo – Nathula Pass – Gangtok – Approximately 100 Kms, 4 hours drive
Morning starts with bed tea and breakfast. Next visit Tsomgo Lake (12400 ft) and Babamandir (13200 ft) the highest ATM in the world at Thegu on the way to Babamandir. Nathula Pass visit is subject to road condition and availability of permits as only limited permits are issued. Spend some time amidst snow (If climate favors, you can find snow) back to Gangtok. Nathula service can be availed only on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Permit 10 - 15 days prior to the Journey for Nathula is preferable. Evening take a ride of the newly built ropeway, rest of the evening spend time at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg or retire at our hotel - Overnight at Gangtok.
Day 5
Gangtok – Pelling / Pemayangtse - Approximately 120 kms - 4 ½ / 5 Hrs
Morning tea and then after breakfast drive for local sight seeing, to the Enchey Monastery, Cottage Industries along with visit to Research Institute of Tibetology and the Do Drul Chorten. Have lunch and drive via Rabongla and the famous tea gardens of Sikkim, Temi Tea Estate – check in – Evening free - Overnight at Pelling / Pemayangtse
Day 6
Pelling Sight seeing -– Local sight seeing - (80 kms - 6 hours)
After an early breakfast, a short hike to Sangachholing Monastery (45 min) located on a hillock above Pelling. Built in the 17th century by Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo, the patron saint of Sikkim, it is the second oldest monastery in Sikkim.
Visit Pemayangtse Monastery after breakfast and drive to Kheocheplari Lake also known as the wishing lake (24 km / 75 minutes). Next drives to Yuksom, Earlier capital of Sikkim, have lunch near the lake, drive to Yuksom and a quaint little village. Yuksom is the historical site where the first king of Sikkim was crowned in 1641, and also the take off point for trekking to Dzongri and Goecha – la, the trekking base of Sikkim and historically very important-sightseeing. Lunch and return to Pemayangtse in the evening - Overnight at Pelling / Pemayangtse
Day 7
Pelling / Pemayangtse to Darjeeling – Approximately 140 kms / 4 - 5 hours
Rest or Shopping at local Market - Overnight at Darjeeling
Day 8
Darjeeling – Local Sight Seeing – Approximately 35 kms / 4 - 5 hours
Early morning visit Tiger Hill for spectacular sunrise with the majestic Kanchendzonga range. Tiger hill is the highest point in the area which provides the most exotic view of the Kanchendzonga peaks. On the way back to hotel see Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast proceed onwards to the Lloyd Botanical Garden. Gorkha stadium or Tenzing Rock choice is yours.Natural History museum, from here we move on to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Adjacent to HMI is Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. a high altitude zoo where one can see the Siberian Tiger, Himalayan Black Bear, Deer, Red Panda, Snow Leopard and many more birds and animals. Visit the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center, which was established in 1959 to rehabilitate the refugees from Tibet. Its workers produce excellent carpets, woodcarvings, and other traditional craft. Watch the Tibetan women singing and weaving carpets. From here we walk down to the Bhutia Busty Tibetan Monastery, which has a good collection of idols, thankas and a collection of Buddhist scriptures - Evening to Shrubbery Park - Overnight at Darjeeling
Day 9
Transfer to Siliguri via Pashupati - Mirik - 3 ½ hours drive
Early breakfast and proceed to Siliguri via Pashupati (Nepal border) stop for a while at Pashupati visit the Nepal side and again return to your vehicle for return journey.
This package can be extended by a couple of days including sites like Lava, Rishyap, Pedong and Lolaygaon. In these cases the tour starts with Lava or Lolaygaon.
