Neora valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Neora valley Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the best birding centers of the region. Situated in the district of Darjeeling and has two entry points officially. Lava is one and the other is via Samsing or Parren Basti. It is one of the most diversified parks of the region with flora and fauna which are rare. Red Panda and few species of birds attracts tourist in Hordes. Neora Valley is spread over an altitude ranging from 600 feet to nearly 3000 feet. Kalimpong, Pedong, Rishyap, Bindu in Darjeeling district are all in the vicinity of this reserve. This sanctuary also touches the border of Sikkim in India to neighboring country / kingdom of Bhutan border.

This valley park has the most diversified avifauna of the region and is one of the hotspot for birders with many international tourists. It is also known for habitat of Red Panda, Siberian Weasel, barking deer, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Black Bear, goral, gaur, pangolin, etc and can be spotted occasionally or while trekking through the park. Birds of the region include the Monal pheasant, hornbills, Eurasian Sparrow hawks, Himalayan Griffon Vulture, the Khalij Pheasant, etc. Neora Valley Sanctuary has approach road from Lava, Kalimpong and the Dooars via Samsing. There are a few trek routes for adventure and nature lovers through the valley via Today – Tangtey and the route is fascination.
